Military Coup: Please keep stay at your barracks

Thursday, January 12th, 2012 12:53:03 by

With rumors of a possible military coup gaining momentum in the present scenario, as politics in Pakistan took another gloomy turn on Wednesday.

The Chief of Army Staff in an ISPR press note hit back against the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s statement in which he spoke about the unconstitutional moves of military chief and DG ISI.

In response, the premier dismissed Defense Secretary Lt General (Retd) Khalid Naeem Lodhi for doing massive misconduct.

At the same time, Gilani reiterated that the army and ISI chiefs did not follow the rules of business in submitting their replies to the Supreme Court in the inglorious memogate case. One cannot comment what will unfold in the next day, as everything has been moving towards destruction.

The situation is quite different and we may have seen another martial-law if this had been done 10 or 15 years ago. Strident media and ferocious judiciary are the main hurdles in direct and unconstitutional moves by the military.

The PPP-led government took a hard-line stance to fight against the extra-constitutional steps taken by any institution rather than timidly yield to their fortune. The PPP circles are mulling that the other institutions, particularly judiciary and the military, made it impossible for the incumbent to run its affairs.

It is unclear that this perception is right or wrong. However, all the blame will lie on the other state organs that it what the PPP want to do.

Undoubtedly, it is quite difficult for any government to run its affairs in such pressurizing circumstances what the incumbent is facing in the present scenario. However, the PPP will have to re-determine its own faults if they want to get the nation’s support.

The government can close the door of coups, whether military or judicial, if it picked up a sincere, loyal and incorrupt team to run the departments and ministries.

It will be difficult to prevent such situations when your own unsympathetic, corrupt and disloyal characters make the way easy for takeovers.

What will be happen next moment? It is unclear to predict as the PPP is only buying more and more time to complete its term. I can only make predictions that better sense will triumph all over.
