Ebb of high-profile political drama

A high-profile political drama has been concluded without any solid conclusion, giving a deep breath to masses. However, uncertainty will remain in terms of what will happen in future on political fronts.

The chaos that gripped across the world indicates one thing that the writers of the ISPR press note, in which the military chief spoke about the dire consequences of the premier’s statement, would have been dismissed. But it happens if Pakistan has a true and strong democracy.

The press note directly challenged a duly elected prime minister to whom the constitution gives powers to sack anyone with certain reasons. It was totally democratic dispensation, as we have a very different setup in Pakistan.

In the larger prospective, another positive thing was that the allied parties completely backed the PPP in hard time. What this move indicates is that the coalition parties will support the government in case the apex court asked the parliament to reconsider the position of NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).

Although the opposition parties will not happy by the move of coalition parties, it will be matter to be thankful for supporting the democratically elected government as well as the survival of the system.

The point to be focused at the moment, of what is happening in Pakistan, is related to personalities. Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari, Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, ISI Chief Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry are in headlines in the present scenario.

One will easily understand entire situation if he/she pays attention to the helm of their respective positions and their training. All of them will complete their terms in 2013, therefore, they are trying to portray themselves gentle.

It is up to the people of Pakistan what kind of country we want in 2014. Whether we still want to make experiments or try to further shine the continuing democracy with smooth transition of powers to the next.

In the present scenario, we, as a nation, will have to think about ourselves. The choice is totally lies on people of Pakistan.

We can change Prime Minister Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari but with the votes that is only constitutional way to do so. We will have to pay much higher prices if we try to adopt options other than that.
