AT&T has joined hands with Nokia on the release of Lumia 900 on their 4G network. Although AT&T is one of the major players in 4G networks but the bigger slice goes to Verizon, pioneer of the service. Nokia has to step up fast to embrace Verizon network quickly before Apple plunges into the picture and changes the rules of engagement.

Verizon announced in 2011 that they are planning to shift all the operations into the 4G networks and in a year or two, the network will be solely dedicated to LTE services. Therefore, Nokia has to throttle up its speed to enter the Verizon network.

AT&T has been a long-time friend of Nokia and the relationship goes years back. The carrier has already started to plug the device on their website and sponsorships. Therefore, Nokia has got the extra push required to get noticed in the US. The American public has forgotten about the company and considering the hyperactive nature of the business, it is justifiable that the users have lost their interest in Java and Symbian.

On the other hand, Microsoft is taking special interest in the Lumia 900. Although the company has other 4G-enabled devices lined up for the US market, Nokia possesses more potential for success in the market. The company might also spend top dollar on the marketing campaign of the device.

So far, the Lumia series has failed to generate a ripple in the US market. Although the device is a looker in many aspects; it’s slim, uni-body and comes in different attractive colours to the liking of both men and women. However, the public still remain oblivious of this device due to other attractive players in market.

Critics are of the opinion that Windows Phone is one of the most efficient mobile operating systems in the market. It is fast and light-weight and is compatible with countless applications. However, the operating system has not seen a promising response from the consumer side. The combination of both Nokia and Microsoft might spur some attention. Critics are looking forward to when the product hits the market.
