One of the key founders of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and close aide of former president Pervez Musharraf, Fawad Chaudhry Tuesday announced quitting the floundering party, alleging that the process of decision making in the party lacked democratic spirit.

Speaking to the media, the spokesperson of Musharraf stated that the spirit of democracy was to take everybody on board, which was not practiced in the APML.

“Musharraf has been encircled by sycophants. He and they don’t bother to consult his old buddies for taking important political decisions,” he claimed. “I was not being consulted about rallies and press conferences despite I was media coordinator of the party,” he said adding he had informed the party leadership about his stance.

The former president, Pervez Musharraf, it may be recalled, had founded his political party with the Fawad’s sterilized support.

Fawad, about the future political course, informed the PPP, PML-Q and PTI leaders were in contact with him. “However, I will decide my future course of action by consulting my close associates. I am not in hurry to jump to any bandwagon.”

Without any doubt, Fawad, who made untiring efforts to convert the APML into a political group, would prove a severe blow to Musharraf’s political strategies after Dr Sher Afghan Niazi, who also left the former dictator last year over the reasons alike to Fawad.

It is worth highlighting here that, many political leaders who believed to be close to Musharraf and met him on various occasions in Dubai and London have either joined the PTI or PML-N, leaving him with a handful names.

Those very few names had made genuine efforts for his political launch but Musharraf due to a circle of lackeys mainly belong to the group of his former colleagues (army men) outdistancing himself from people who could bring even some political leaders in the party.

Reports claimed that Fawad had not been given control over the administrative as well as the financial issues of Punjab chapter despite his repeated requests to Pervez Musharraf for upholding the party in the most crucial region.

Some analysts believe that Musharraf might postpone his plan to return as people are leaving him and he was not getting positive signal from power corridors.
