Ricky Hatton picks Floyd Mayweather over Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news

Former WBA (Super), IBF, The Ring & British light welterweight Champion and WBA welterweight champion, Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, believes the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion, Floyd Mayweather, will outclass the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, if the two finally fight on May 5 this year.

The five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, has challenged the World Boxing Welterweight Champion, Manny Pacquiao, to fight him on May 5 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada before he goes into the prison and Hatton thinks it will be a Mayweather’s night.

“I don’t want to fight anybody but him [Pacquiao],” Floyd Mayweather Jnr told Fight Hype. “I don’t want to fight [Miguel] Cotto, not Canelo [Saul Alvarez] and I ain’t looking to fight [Juan Manuel] Marquez a second time.”

He added, “I fought [Victor] Ortiz. Ortiz was a tune up preparing me for Pacquiao because I thought that fight was going to happen and it’s the fight I want to give the world.”

Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather is considered by many as a dream fight because both fighters are the best, when it comes to the pound-for-pound rankings. It been a long time since there fight is in the making and now when it is finally happening, Hatton is pretty excited.

Hatton, who was known as the great white hope, lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao both during his career but he thinks Mayweather was the technically much better than the Filipino star, who knocked him out brutally in the second round.

On Twitter he wrote: “Im hearing real progress is being made making pacman n mayweather, great news. I fancy mayweather. “

“PAC nailed me as I was reckless, again. But Floyd was technically exceptional. I couldn’t hit the F***** with a handfull of confetti. Ha ha. ”

Mayweather-Pacquiao is one of the biggest bouts in the boxing history and if the fight gets real, it will certainly have all the hallmarks of being an absolute classic. Nevertheless, who is the best can only be proven on the fight night.
