Babar Awan slightly misses the Law Ministry

Dr. Babar Awan, the former law minister, almost got the portfolio, once again, but slightly missed it. Tuesday was not a lucky day for Babar Awan who got mix reactions.

He faced a worrying experience in the Supreme Court for showing his loyalty to President Asif Ali Zardari. An eleven-member bench of the apex court with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the chair temporarily cancelled the legal license of Babar Awan, giving him a series of shock.

Interestingly, Babar Awan forgot history of contempt of court notices against him, increasing the annoyance of the judges. He was served three contempt notices on different occasions hitherto.

The court ejected him from the famous Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto reference case that he really wanted to exclusively use for publicity and self-projection. Indeed, he was issued suspension until he is cleared from the contempt of case notices.

Furthermore, the judges directed Punjab Bar Council (PBC) to provide his academic record including educational degrees.

Awan’s qualification has been in the news for some time. However, he was saved from media trail by being close to the party –co-chairperson somehow he skillfully dodged the controversy, as he has good public relations with media.

Indeed it gives him cover whatever deficiency he might have in educational record. A set of issues he is facing in the present scenario, the apex court will not let him off the hook, in the contempt of court case, if he refuses to pardon.

The court has sought his registration with different bars, seeking hold of the educational records; the secrecy would ultimately be resolved. The person, who always teaches people about law of morality and democracy, will have to prove his degrees.

It looks like a sorry spectacle to people about a probable law minister with a contempt of court notice and suspect educational background.

It should also mention here that it was the same country that produced prodigies like the gem late Araf Karim, who in such a tender age gained a global merit that even moved Bill Gates, world’s richest person.

Above information will help anyone know that how this system operates and what really is the criterion to become a federal minister.
