Iran’s economy and the double standards of America

President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama has said that Iran’s economy is in shambles after the US-led sanctions and reemphasized that the US is not ready to see Iran as a nuclear force in the world.

The President was expressing his views during a fundraising event in New York at a centre of the US Jewish community.

America’s prejudice against Iran is becoming very obvious now as the nuclear assets of Iran are going to hamper Israel’s hegemony in the middle-east.

Quite ironically, Iran has signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has mentioned it a number of times on the international forums that its nuclear program is only for civil and peaceful purposes. Yet, the world powers are raising question marks over
the Islamic Republic, which is severely under pressure to halt its nuclear program.

On the other side of the coin, India has not even signed the NPT and US is supporting the South Asian country in its nuclear program. This just goes to show the double standards and the prejudices of the US and its allies.

The President said that the US is not going to compromise on the nuclear program of Iran and this is the basic reason behind the economic sanctions on the middle-eastern country.

Previously, China and Russia have shown a soft corner for Iran but Obama claims that he has taken the two Asian powers on board.

Obama said, "Unequivocally that we’re not going to tolerate a nuclear weapon in the hands of this Iranian regime. We’ve been able to organize folks like China and Russia that previously would have never gone along with something like this. And it’s been
so effective that even the Iranians have had to acknowledge that their economy is in a shambles.”

While mentioning his contribution as the President of the US, Obama expressed that situation was quite bleak at the start of his regime but he believes that now the US has been able to corner Iran.

"When I came into office, Iran was united and the world was divided. And now what we have is a united international community that is saying to Iran, you’ve got to change your ways,” the President added.

There may be a perception in world that Iran ‘may’ use its nuclear program for the show of aggression but there are no doubts whatsoever about the evil intentions of the resource-hungry world powers.
