Amir Khan should avoid Floyd Mayweather says Ricky Hatton

Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, who is a former WBA (Super), IBF, The Ring, & British light welterweight champion and WBA welterweight champion, has suggested former unified WBA (Super) & IBF light welterweight champion, Amir Khan, to stay away from the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather Jnr, as Hatton reckons Khan should restore his image before taking on the pugilist who is regarded as the best on the planet.

The 24-year-old Khan is keen to fight Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current WBC welterweight champion, but the Bolton’s finest recently suffered a much-controversial defeat to Lamont Peterson in Washington. Therefore, Hatton thinks Khan should keep Mayweather aside for a while.

Hatton said: “I think a Mayweather fight would be too soon for Amir. He is just coming off a defeat and does he really want to fight the number one fighter right now or later this year?”

Floyd Mayweather, who has plans to return to the ring on May 5, is currently on course to fight his biggest welterweight rival, Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current WBO welterweight champion, and Hatton wants Khan to take on the winner later on.

“I think Amir needs two or three fights to get himself re-established and get his confidence back. Then maybe he’ll fight the winner of (Manny) Pacquiao and Mayweather next year.

“If Amir could put in a good performance against Peterson he will improve his position when he sits down at the negotiating table.”

The fight between the pound-for-pound kings, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, which is expected to happen at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, is being rated as the biggest fight of the century ($100 million). However, nothing has been finalised as of yet since Mayweather doesn’t want a 50/50 split with Pacquiao.

On the other hand Khan and Peterson are definatley going to have a rematch because it was immediately ordered by the World Boxing Association. So let’s see if Khan passes Peterson test this time, as otherwise his dream of taking on Floyd Mayweather will go away.

Amir King Khan should not think about even breathing on floyd mayweather yet he could not stand on his 2 legs with two boxers who are not rated in the top 10 as he is – going up a division then fighting the pound for pound best would be a foolish mistake but maybe khan has different plans he knows he has 2 losses hey 2 more won’t hurt

personal advice/opinion from me would be to let manny and floyd fight amir khan faces the winner next december

  2. Let him step up, and he will taken out like the fat man.

    UK Team Mayweather

Boxing is becoming a fake sport people like vince mcmahon should run it. at least then we’ll be entertained with story lines before the main event. Boxing judges being influenced by anyone other than the score card girl should find a job as the cleaner. As all they’re doing is making the good old sport dirty. these days we hear an announcement in the ring straight after the fight for a rematch. I mean this is a Joke. And Mayweather Jnr is a cheat. Playing games in the ring what a Joke. I say bring on Hulk Hogan and the LOD.
