Bob Arum offers Floyd Mayweather $45 million for Manny Pacquiao fight

The undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather, recently guaranteed the eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, $40 million purse over the phone for their mega fight. The offer was rejected by team Pacquiao straightaway since Floyd wanted to have all the pay per view income himself.

However, now Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum has upped the stake by guaranteeing Mayweather Jnr a $45 million purse under the same terms, which were offered to Pac-Man.

“I am offering Mayweather $45 million under the same terms he offered Pacquiao,” Arum told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard, in reaction to the Mayweather offer.

Mayweather Jnr, who is the current WBC welterweight champion, doesn’t want a 50/50 split with Pacquiao because he thinks he is the biggest draw in the world of boxing. Initially this looked like a funny statement from the American but according to the stats, which have been published by many media outlets; it looks as if Mayweather has a valid point.

The alarming reports showed that Manny Pacquiao, who is the current WBO welterweight champion, has earned a lot less as compared to Mayweather Jnr over the past 6 years even when he had more fights. Therefore, Arum also clarified the situation, which shocked many out there.

According to the reports, Pacquiao was earned a $ 6 million in his highly-anticipated trilogy bout with the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez.

Arum revealed Pacquiao’s guarantee for the Marquez fight was $22 million but as per the rules of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, a fighter has to be paid on the fight night and that is why he paid $6 million to the NSAC in Pacquiao’s fight against Manuel. Arum insisted $6 million were just paid in order to comply with the requirements and Pacquiao got the remaining amount within next 10days. Arum further claimed Internal Revenue Service even has the actual contract of Pacquiao-Marquez fight.

The stats showed Pacquiao earned a total of US$ 46,400,000 in the past 6 years whereas ‘Money’ Mayweather bagged in US$ 91,500,001.

Well, let’s wait and watch what how team Mayweather responds now.
