I-LAP distributes food items among 2,000 flood affectees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad: (Monday, January 30, 2012) Interfaith League against Poverty (I-LAP), an Islamabad based non-government organization, distributed food items among 2,000 floods affected families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province today.

The food packs included 20kg rice, 40kg wheat flour, 4kg split peas, 2kg sugar, 2.5kg cooking oil, 200gm tea and 800gm salt each.

The communities and settlements targeted by the I-Lap team for food items distribution are situated in Mughal Kai, Taru, Balu, Chowki Mamrez, Pir Sabaq, Dagai, Chowki town and Aman Gher.

Amid tarnishing floods and the following militancy surge along with military operation, fields and orchards in KPK are left desolate. Now, with this year’s heavy snowfall, people in the area are going through what can be best described
as a severe winter, leaving them vulnerable to a looming drought.

Chairman I-Lap, Mr. Sajid Ishaaq, who himself took the pain to monitor the entire activity of food distribution among poorest of the families in targeted areas, while sharing his thoughts, said that flood was a natural calamity
that urged the people to display tolerance in these hard times. However, he maintained that they were not alone to face these hard times as I-Lap was putting its best efforts to share their grievances and mitigate their sufferings.

He said, “Right from day one, team I-Lap is in the field, working on different fronts to revive pre-floods life in the affected areas. And in doing so, provision of food, health and education for our target communities is at the
top of our agenda.”

Interacting with the affected people, Mr. Ishaaq exchanged sympathies with them and inquired about the areas where his organization could offer further help.

Expressing his resolve to respond to the call of duty and shoulder the responsibilities for revival of the poor and vulnerable communities in befitting manner, chairman I-LAP said they were to remain engaged with their people unless
they become capable of standing tall of the tarnishes rendered by the floods.
