Rishi Kapoor says he is experimenting with himself

The veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has insisted that he is experimenting with himself by doing roles he never did before in his career. Kapoor, who made his Bollywood debut in 1989, is known best for doing romance of the big screen but his recent transformation from a sweet lover boy in Bobby to one of the ugliest pimps in Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ has left everyone flabbergasted.

Kapoor told the media he didn’t want to do the Rauf Lala’s role in ‘Agneepath’ at first because he was not sure if he can really do a negative role. However, the actor stressed he went for it as he wanted to try something new.

“In the 25-years of my career I only sang songs and romanced girls onscreen and did nothing else. No one gave me any acting assignment because people thought I was only good at romancing.”

“I have played a negative character second time in my career and enjoyed it but the credit should go to director and producer. I had refused it when it was first offered to me because I was not sure. I went for a look test for the first time in my career and only then I said yes,” he said.

“I am playing now. I am experimenting with me, which every actor should do.”

The 59-year-old actor stated Bollywood industry these days is very youth oriented as a result to which old actors are asked to leave. Therefore, Kapoor feels himself lucky since he is getting good roles even at this stage of his career.

‘Agneepath’, which is a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1990 cult classic, also featured the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Sunjay Dutt and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra. Nevertheless, Rishi Kapoor and Sunjay Dutt have been especially liked by the audiences.

Rishi is currently participating in Sajid Khan’s much-anticipated action comedy film ‘Housefull 2’, which is a sequel to the 2010 release ‘Houseful’. The film will hit the cinemas on April 5 this year.

Though Rishi is not playing a lead role in the movie, his presence will certainly force many out there to flock to the cinemas.
