Pakistan deserved convincing victory, says Javed Miandad

Former Pakistan skipper and batting legend, Javed Miandad has said that following a brilliant performance by every player, it was a well deserved whitewash win for Pakistan.

The Men in Green humiliated the Poms by imposing a thrilling 3-0 clean-sweep defeat on the tourists. Andrew Strauss and company was helpless in front of Pakistani bowlers, as they failed to put up a fine score on the card.

The third and final Test was the highlight of the series, as the hosts clinched a handsome win after being bundled out for mere 99 runs in the first innings. Thanks to Azahar Ali’s fantastic ton in the second innings, Team Green managed to set a challenging
score of 324 runs.

Despite getting off to a fine start, the Englishmen were unable to resist against the magic of Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman, suffering an embarrassing 71-run loss.

Miandad was delighted with Pakistan’s superb performance, and said that the Cornered Tigers deserved to seal a convincing win against world’s number one Test team.

“I must be in the minority because I am not surprised at Pakistan comfortably defeating England in the Test series. Just because you are ranked the number one team in the world doesn’t give you a God given right to win all of the time. Australia were the
number one ranked team previously and they slipped down the ladder. It all depends on who performs the best during the series. If you do not perform well and play consistently good cricket, your ranking is irrelevant. It’s all about performance irrespective
of who the opposition are,” Miandad told pakpassion.net.

He added: “During the Test series against England, Pakistan have played wonderful cricket and deserved to win the series convincingly. Even when at times England held the upper hand for short periods, Pakistan fought back admirably. I congratulate the Pakistan
team for their efforts and they deserve a tremendous amount of credit for their hard work and tenacity. Pakistan played the better cricket throughout the series and they made it count where it mattered, which is on the field, out there in the middle, not off
the pitch. England were outplayed by Pakistan!”
