Motorola Droid Razr Maxx: The same Droid Razr with a revamped long-lasting battery

The Motorola Droid Razr made its debut in October. The Razr moniker made its comeback after almost five to six years since the release of original Motorola Razr. Although the smartphone did not bring anything out of the ordinary to the table, the combination of different things made it a star in the holiday season.

The slim handset with a 4.7-inch screen was a major source of attraction at the shelves and made big sales. However, the company, Motorola in this case, thought of bringing a successor to the Razr line this year. Two Razrs in less than six months is mind boggling but there is a good reason attached to it.

The Motorola Razr Maxx will be replacing the lead position on smartphone line. Although the new handset looks more or less the same as its recent predecessor, it has a powerful battery residing underneath the casing. The new battery lasts two long days mostly on stand-by and 17 hours on constant view of videos.

The original Droid Razr had the same problem of one-day or less battery life as is with the rest of hoard. Given mesmerizing features in the Razr albeit the operating system, which is still the old Android Gingerbread, a new and long battery life instilled into the Maxx gives it the required icing. Speaking of which, Google has announced that the new Android 4.0 or the Ice Cream Sandwich will shortly be arriving to the Razr Maxx.

Even Gingerbread work marvellous on dual-core processor under the hood and there is not stutter whatsoever observed while navigating through home screens, widgets and menus. On the other hand, the dimensions of the new smartphone have not been compromised despite the introduction of new battery.

The new handset is set to be release in the first quarter of 2012 and the Ice Cream Sandwich will be following shortly. Google and Motorola have claimed that ICS will have no problem in compatibility with the capacitive buttons residing at bottom of the screen.

To date only Galaxy Nexus has embraced the ICS and it has no capacitive buttons whatsoever on the front of handset; that service is provided by the operating system itself.
