Karan Johar’s Twitter account hacked just hours before release of his latest film

Karan Johar, a renowned Indian director, producer, screen-writer and Television host, has also got his name added to the list of celebrities whose twitter accounts fell in the hands of hackers.

For Karan, the timing of his Twitter account getting hacked could not have been more inappropriate. The incident took place just a day before his latest film “Ek Mein Aur Ekk Tu” was due to hit the big screen. The film is a romantic comedy starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Last Thursday morning, Karan’s followers on the immensely popular social networking and micro-blogging service began to receive rather lewd direct messages from his account. Anyone who was even remotely familiar with the well-composed and decent personality of Karan could have easily told that it was not him but rather some hacker who was sending out these messages.

Though the Indian director managed to regain control of his account by Thursday evening, he immediately went about clearing the air on his tweets upon learning what his followers had to endure during the day.

“So something weird happening to my Twitter account. Its sending random DM’s to the twitterati. Please be warned. Even KRK’s account is hacked!” tweet Karan.

By KRK, he was referring to Kamaal Rashid Khan, a Dubai-based Indian film actor, producer and writer. While Karan’s hacked account had been used to send out vulgar direct messages, the hacker used KRK’s twitter account as well to post lewd tweets.

While the exact intention of the hackers behind breaking into Karan’s and KRK’s account is unclear, the closest guess one can make is that they wanted to malign the two personalities by spreading hatred through their twitter accounts.

It is also difficult to say if it was the same hacker who broke into the accounts of both celebrities or if it was carried out by two different people.

This is not the first time that a Bollywood celebrity has found his twitter account at mercy of a hacker. Other celebrities whose accounts got hacked in the recent past include film director Mahesh Bhatt, actor-cum-film director Arbaaz Khan, as well as the emerging star Neil Nitin Mukesh.
