Kapil Dev asks Sachin Tendulkar to retire from ODIs

Former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev believes the time has come for Sachin Tendulkar to say good bye to One Day International cricket. Kapil was not reluctant to say that after two decades of fantastic cricket, the Master Blaster’s time in the shorter version
of the sport is finally up.

"From what we have seen in the last three months, he should have announced his retirement after the World Cup. It’s important to know that every cricketer has his time," Kapil told a news channel

Kapil’s comments came in the wake Tendulkar’s below par performance in the ongoing tri-angular one-day series in Australia. After doing nothing special in the Test series, the Little Master sustained his batting slump in the limited-over cricket. Tendulkar’s
fans are desperately waiting for his historic 100th ton but no big innings has been coming to his way.

Kapil described, "Having served India for 22-23 years, there surely is no greater cricketer than him. But he should have announced his decision to retire from the shorter format soon after the World Cup."

When asked whether the batting maestro’s elusive ton is affecting his game, the former all-rounder shared, "Sachin has played under tremendous pressure all through his career and scored centuries inspite of extreme expectations. He has delivered in such
situations in the past."

Many cricket experts are urging veteran players such as Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Tendulkar to decide on their future and let the youngsters do the party from now onwards.

However, Kapil has an entirely different take on this, as he stated that the selection panel itself should come forward and make a call on the players who cannot decide on their own.

"May be his time has come. Every player has his time. Age is not on his side as it was earlier.  Perhaps Sachin loves cricket more than himself. Azhar feels like playing even now. Sourav (Ganguly) wants to play. It’s important what the Board or the selectors
feel about the issue," he added.

Team Blue is going through a terrible time these days. After losing to England in England last summer, the Men in Blue collected a lot of misery in Australia.
