The best gadget of 2011, Period – Part 4

The laptop is targeted at small-businesses but the Folio 13 is up for grabs to anyone who has interest in super-thin laptops that work splendidly but do not sport the Apple moniker.

The Folio was the star of the CES 2012 and attracted more than usual crowd toward it. The inclusion of a DVD drive in the 15-inch version is also a welcome sign that makes it standout of the crowd.

So far, Folio is the only device that has the momentum to catch-up with Macbook Air.

5. Macbook Air

Apple announced the ultra slim laptop back in 2008 and since then, it has been a complete success, not only in terms of its competition with the likes of HP and Dell, but it also cannibalized Macbook Pro’s market.

Other competitors came in late to address this category but they still need play catch-me-if-you can the Air.

The laptop boasts the latest version Mac OS X, the Lion and is ready to embrace upcoming update to the Mountain Lion.

Although the device lacks some ports like the HDMI and USB 3.0, its Thunderbolt I/O has covered the device aptly.

The main reason for the Air’s success has been the fact that the device pioneered the so-called ultrabook segment and since then has made loyal customers. On the other hand, its lightweight built Mac OS X capabilities have made it the first choice of the customers who want a full computer at home or on the move.

However, if someone is eager to get the hands on this device, he/she should wait until the right moment arrives as the new line of Macbook Air is expected to fall somewhere in second or third calendar quarter and due to the reason that the notebook has not changed its shape since its original release, it is expected to get a change in the formation as well.
