Hassan Bashir could feature for Pakistan, says Zavisa

Pakistan coach Zavisa Milosavljevic has revealed that Denmark-based forward Hassan Bashir could be in the team for next year’s AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers.

For years, the Green-Shirts have seemingly been lacking a true attacker, who can get the goals when they are needed. Muhammad Essa was perhaps the most promising but his fallout with the PFF means that he is no longer in consideration.

A savior in the shape of Hassan Bashir emerged last year, after he agreed to play for the National team in the friendly series against India. However as luck would have it, the whole tournament was scrapped and the striker could not make his bow.

While he did not feature, he surely made an impact at the coaching staff, with former boss Tariq Lutfi heaping praise on the talented front-man last year.

“Hassan Bashir has impressed me a lot. He is an intelligent player and the most important thing about him is that he appears to be very disciplined and committed,” Lutfi said.

Current coach Zavisa Milosavljevic has followed up on that and recently revealed that Bashir had joined the camp unexpectedly and could surely play for the Green-Kickers next year during the Challenge Cup qualifiers.

“Although we had not invited Hassan for the camp, he came to Pakistan on his personal visit and he wanted to join the camp and so we welcomed him a couple of days ago.”

The former Lesotho manager also revealed that due to his experience he could prove to be a great addition to the side and will probably be tested next year when the Senior team resumes their bid to become one of the best on the continent.

“He is an experienced player and I am closely observing him in the camp. We can use him in the senior team for the next year’s AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers,” the Serbian was quoted as saying.

With the likes of Hassan Bashir, Adnan Ahmed, Atif Bashir and Zeeshan Rehman in the line-up, Pakistan could surely become a force to be reckoned with under Milosavljevic, but for now we’ll have to wait and see.
