PTI leader Imran Khan calls for immediate measures to cope with energy crisis in Pakistan

The leader of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf Party, Imran Khan has recently given a statement in which he said that if his party comes to power and takes ownership of the government of Pakistan in the upcoming elections, the energy sector will be handed over
to the professionals of the field rather than the politicians with respect to the decision making involved.

After having labelled the present government of Pakistan ruled by the Pakistan People’s Party as incompetent at dealing with the prevailing energy crisis in the country, the leader of the PTI explained the five year plan of his party that can turn things
around for Pakistan in the energy sector of the country.

The leader of the PTI, Imran Khan, expressed his views on the energy crisis prevailing in the country in the following manner, “The current government has neither the ability nor the political will to make the sector financially viable by reducing losses
and leakages in the system and cutting the cost of energy generation. The elimination of terrorism and bringing good governance are short-term targets. Tackling the energy crisis, however, is a long-term goal.”

Not only that, a statement issued by the PTI on the present energy crisis prevailing in the country said that Pakistan has an abundant supply of natural resources that have been left untouched. Indigenous resources which include Thar Coal as well as domestic
gas has not been worked upon to provide the country with a sufficient supply of energy.

According to the PTI, Pakistan needs to take immediate actions if it wants to avoid severe power shortages during the next five years. These power shortages will in turn cause the duration of load shedding to increase in the coming years. The current power
shortage that is prevailing in the country is 5,500 megawatts. However, if the situation prevailing and no step is taken to mend the worsening conditions, the power shortage will increase and rise to a figure of 11,000 megawatts.

As a result, it is expected that the power shortage will lead to the subsequent increase of the import bill from $12 billion to $60-120 billion.
