Nokia unleashes 808 PureView with 41-mega pixel camera

Nokia was present at the Mobile World Congress 2012, Barcelona and it had a louder voice than the likes of Sony, who recently acquired the shares of Ericsson in the joint venture Sony Ericsson, and Samsung.

The company announced a number of devices at the event and among them were Lumia 610 that belongs to the entry-level category and Nokia 808 PureView camera phone.

At last such event this year, Consumer Electronics Show 2012 at Las Vegas, HTC stunned the audience with HTC Titan II that had a 16-mega pixel snapper. However, Nokia might have taken the lead in that respect with its PureView. The company has launched a number of camera phones in the last one decade but this was a pure stunner with a 41-mega pixel camera.

Yes, so far what we have heard is a 16-mega pixel camera in HTC Titan II. However, Nokia has taken the lead in terms of pixels crammed into a little lens as compared to dSLR cameras that work on professional level.

However, don’t get your hopes high, as the phone lacks some juice on a number of bases. First off, the lens might be able to take enough light to capture 41-mega pixel photo but due to the constraints of the size of being a mobile phone, this does not have a optical lens for zooming and focusing like the dSLRs.

Due to the big, out-of-the-ordinary lens, there is a huge bulge at the rear side of the device. The lens is accompanied by a big LED flash.

The phone is not a looker itself. It is on the shorter side of stick when it comes to thickness as compared to the likes of HTC Titan. The screen is limited at 4 inches to it is good at taking photos and nothing else. The pixel density is a plus though.

Finnish have incorporated the older of the oldest, Symbian, in the phone as its operating system and at first look it gives the impression of the name. The screen is capacitive touch, however.

Full review is expected once the device hits the market.
