Vodafone introduces Joyn

Vodafone Spain wants to be at the starting line of the new platform, Joyn, on Internet service with operators around the world seek to stand up to corporate voice and messaging through the network as WhatsApp, BlackBerry
Messenger, IMessage, or Skype.
Although the commercial launch of Joyn is scheduled for this summer in Spain, it will be set by the three major operators (Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange), the British operator will be the first to launch a pilot test Joyn
for their clients.
The test is open to all customers in Vodafone Spain Android handset with a 2.3 and downloading an application Joyn from the Android Market or from the app store Vodafone Select App. The
downloading and use of the application will be free and available from now until the commercial launch of service in summer along with the other operators.
Joyn is the trade name of a service sponsored by the worldwide association of operators ( GSMA ) under the standard Rich Communication Suite (RCS-e). In addition to instant messaging,
as WhatsApp is interoperable multi-device, it also allows the shipment of heavy digital files, videoconference, email, chat and other applications.
In fact, the absence of major developments in the terminals, Joyn has become the star of MWC in Barcelona. This is the most important joint commitment of operators to curb companies like Skype WhatsApp.
Vodafone, meanwhile, wants to bet on a smart grid. The British operator today introduced a new technology, called fast
Domancy, which is believed to save up to 25% of mobile phone battery. With this technology, which works on all smartphones, the terminal tells the network whether to transmit more data or not.
The operator has also introduced enhancements to its network to optimize the download of videos with higher quality and speed, easy playback of Flash content in all types of mobile devices and faster access to the most popular
web by connecting direct national with the most popular content providers.
