Floyd Mayweather clarifies why he can’t give Manny Pacquiao 50/50 split

A fight between eight division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, and five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather junior, is what everyone out there wants to see but unfortunately this dream-fight has not been made thus far due to the disputes between both pugilists.

Recently, the undefeated American legend, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, challenged the Filipino star for a May 5 fight but his offer was turned town when Mayweather revealed that he will not have a 50/50 split.

The 34-year-old American superstar faced a lot of criticism, as people believed it is just another excuse from him. Therefore, Mayweather has finally come out and spoken to media about why he can’t offer Pacquiao a 50/50 split.

The current WBC welterweight champion insisted he is biggest draw in the sport and the highest paid athlete at this point in time. The boxer further added that he always keeps 100% of the pay-per-view revenue so why should he give Pacquiao a 50/50 split.

Mayweather told boxingscene.com, “How my deal is structured at this particular time in the sport of boxing, I keep 100% of the [pay-per-view] revenue, so why would I even give a guy 50-50. At this particular time, I’m not just the highest paid guy in the sport of boxing, I’m the highest paid athlete.”

He added, “I’m not giving up the split. I’m not. I can’t. I can’t afford to. No I’m not. I gave this sport my whole life. I’ve been dominating in this sport. I have record breaking numbers that I’ve done. He has no record breaking numbers. With or without Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather is okay. Floyd Mayweather fights for Floyd Mayweather. At the end of the day, Floyd Mayweather has to be happy.”

The pound-for-pound kings, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Junior, are regarded as the best fighters on planet as a result to which their fight is one of the most-anticipated fights out there and if it happens it will certainly be the ‘Fight of the Century’.
