Both, President Asif Ali Zardari and the ISPR on Saturday rebuffed accusations of Mansoor Ijaz, saying they had not made any telephonic conversation on the night of May 1 and May 2.

Referring to the statement of Mansoor Ijaz, the main character in the memogate scandal, as reported in the media, a spokesman of the ISPR (Inter Services Public Relations) said that there was no telephonic contact between the President and the COAS on the night when Osama bin Laden was killed by the U.S. Special Forces.

Ijaz claimed that F-16 planes were ready to counter any operation but President Zardari advised Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani not to retaliate.

“A section of the media has carried reports implying that President Asif Ali Zardari had through a phone call, on the night of May-2 raid on Osama bin Laden, informed the army chief that the operation had been conducted with his approval.”

The military spokesman said that the their leadership briefed the joint session of parliament as well as the Abbottabad Commission on the subject matter and there is nothing more to add to it.

Pakistani-origin US business tycoon and the key person in the “memogate” scandal, Mansoor Ijaz, told to the Judicial Commission probing the case via video link from the Pakistan High Commission in London that President Asif Ali Zardari was aware of the Abbottabad operation that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden by US Special Forces in 2011.

He added that there was a real threat of a military coup in Pakistan following the U.S. operation in Abbottabad. “And therefore the memo was forwarded to General James Jones.”

The President House has already rejected the allegations saying that no contacts were resumed with COAS on that night.

A few months back Ijaz blamed Pakistani ambassador in Washington for memo to US officials saying for stopping possible military coup in Pakistan. He had blamed that the memo was basically written on behalf of the ambassador and a top officials in Islamabad.

The case was taken up in the Supreme Court that was handed over to commission headed by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
