Ram Gopal Varma: I’m a big fan of Sunny Leone

The Brazilian bombshell, Nathalia Kaur, who recently defeated 15 top models to become the Kingfisher Calendar Girl of 2012, is the talk of the town right now but it seems as if the Indian film director, producer and writer, Ram Gopal Varma, still has qualms about not signing the Indo-Canadian porn star, Sunny Leone.

Kaur is all set to perform for an item number ‘Dan Dan’ in RGV’s much-anticipated upcoming film ‘Department’ but the director has revealed that he initially wanted Leone for the song.

Leone, who rose to fame during her stint in the Bigg Boss Season 5, is currently gearing up for Pooja Bhatt’s upcoming film ‘Jism 2’, which is a reason why RGV’s plan didn’t work out.

Ramu told the media that he could have got Leone but the Bhatts intervened and didn’t allow him to cast her.

RGV said, “I actually wanted Sunny Leone for the item song in ‘Department’. I`m a big fan of hers. But she has a contract with Mahesh, Mukesh and Pooja Bhatt. So I was denied access to her.”

RGV insisted that the artists should have the freedom to take new projects.

He added, “I don`t believe in contracts, exclusive or otherwise. I leave that to other production houses who are scared of losing their discoveries.”

In the end RGV was asked if he has signed any exclusive contract with Nathalia Kaur on which he replied in a sarcastic tone and said he would have no qualms in letting Kaur sign projects out his banner.

“Whether it is Sunny Leone or Nathalia Kaur, you can`t keep them fastened to the pillar in your backyard hoping no one would steal them,” said RGV.

The item number ‘Dan Dan’ has already created a lot of hype among the audiences and one of the reasons behind is that it is being choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, who directed Katrina Kaif’s dance moves in ‘Chikni Chikni’.

‘Department’ is scheduled to hit the cinemas on May 18, 2012 and the film will feature the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles.
