Over the past few years, a host of Pakistani artists have been able to make their name abroad because of the political situation in the country. Also, the huge market in India is another positive for them as it offers them a perfect
opportunity to showcase their talent.

Nazia Hassan started the trend way back in 1980 when she provided the vocals for the song ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ for the Bollywood movie ‘Qurbani’. The song became a huge hit in both Pakistan and India and Nazia won the prestigious Filmfare
Award later that year.

Junoon and Ali Haider were the next breakthrough performers from Pakistan who made their name in the neighbouring country but more recently it has been Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who has represented Pakistan. The singer has been arguably
the most successful singer in India for the past five years and his performances have been widely appreciated.

From ‘Mann Ki Lagan’ to last year’s megahit ‘Teri Meri’, Rahat has been influential in all respects and is one of the most respectable names in Bollywood now. Similarly, Atif Aslam has also found huge success in the Indian market
and has struck a chord with the youth with songs like ‘Pehli Nazar’ and ‘Tu Jaane Na’.

On the other hand, the multi talented Ali Zafar has found his way into Bollywood also. The singer who found success overnight with ‘Channo’ is one of the most sought after young actors in India and has delivered two hits in ‘Tere
Bin Laden’ and ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’. His recently released ‘London Paris New York’ has also found critical acclaim after it released last week worldwide.

More recently, the likes of Mustafa Zahid, Annie and Shoaib Mansoor have also found some fan following outside Pakistan and judging by the trend more and more talented artists will get acceptance worldwide.
