New iPad version – 2012: Full Hands-on review – Part 1

The curtains have raised, the veil has been lifted. The new iPad is out to astound the masses. Yes, the masses, as iPad series remains by far the best seller to date and the new version might hammer the final nail in the coffin of its competitors.

The most anticipated device so far this year has been announced by its makers, Apple, Inc. The name however, remains issue as Tim Cook and family tried to abolish the numeric suffix from its flagship products with more vibrant and attractive names like Pro and Air that they have for their laptop range. The new iPad is called… the iPad or third generation of the iPad.

Though the outer shell of the device remains almost the same; a  novice might not be able to tell the difference between 2011 and 2012 models, there still is a majesty about the slate that will be hard for competitors to beat, the screen.

The wait has finally come to an end to see the Apple tablet with the majestic Retina Display; iPad was the only device that remains barren of such technology but not anymore. However, when it came out, it replenished the eagerness to purchase one at utmost priority.

There were rumours that, even in the presence of Retina Display, the tablet might lack the sales figures that its predecessors had accomplished in their one-year lives. However, those sources must look at the 9.7-inch screen that churns out a whopping 2,048×1,536 pixels, topping the benchmark of 332 pixels set by the iPhone 4/4S and iPod Touch Third Generation.

The screen is so astonishing that there seems no need to go beyond for tech-specs check. However, as this happens to be a review of the device, there are going to be pros and cons listed later in this article.
