Bollywood buzz Vidya Balan currently stands next to the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, thanks to the stupendous success of her film ‘The Dirty Picture’, which was released on December 2 last year. However, while everyone in the industry is conscious about their physic, the Malayali girl has insisted that size zero does not matter for her and there has been no acceptable body type for woman.
Balan, who not too long ago bagged the National Award for her magnificent performance in ‘The Dirty Picture’, told Times of India in an interview that Asian women are gifted with a healthy body and they should be happy about it.
In the meantime, the 34-year-old, who, last year, gained almost 15 kgs for ‘The Dirty Picture’, mentioned the likes of Bollywood yesteryear’s superstars Mumtaz and Rekhaji.
Vidya Balan said, “As women we are constantly criticising and judging ourselves in terms of our body, how we dress, what profession we take up, how we fare in that. Indian women are gifted with certain body types and features which is healthy and we should accept that.”
The Dirty Picture star added, “Size zero doesn’t matter For me there has been no acceptable body type. Look at actors of yesteryears like Mumtaz, Rekhaji… everyone had their individual style. One should celebrate one’s own self the way you are. And when you accept yourself, everyone accepts you.”
Vidya Balan has played a lead role in Sujoy Ghosh’s film ‘Kahaani’, which has hit the cinemas today. It is yet another female-centric movie, in which Balan has played a pregnant woman’s role in search of her husband.
Since Bollywood is a male oriented industry, Balan was asked about why she is only doing female lead, on which the actress replied that she just wants to show people how tough women are.
Well, all said and done, Vidya Balan’s new film ‘Kahaani’ has been well received by the critics and it is expected that the movie will do good at the Box Office still let’s see if it really lives up to the expectations.
