The Bengali Indian male actor, Parambrata Chatterjee, has recently played a lead role opposite to Vidya Balan in Sujoy Ghosh’s film ‘Kahaani’, which was released on March 9, 2012. The film has been well received by the critics and it seems as if Chatterjee has given all credit to Ms. Balan.
In ‘Kahaani’, Balan (Vidya Bagchi) has played a role of a pregnant woman’s role who comes to Kolkata from London in search of her missing husband (Chatterjee), who many say doesn’t actually exist. Apparently it makes Chatterjee the hero in ‘Kahaani’ but when the actor was asked about it, he simply laughed it off.
“Kahaani already has two heroes, Vidya and Kolkata. I’m the film’s heroine,” he quipped.
In the meantime, the 30-year-old Chatterjee revealed that he was with in girlfriend in Amsterdam and had no idea that Sujoy will call him up for his movie.
“I was in Amsterdam with my girlfriend when I received a call from Mumbai. From Amsterdam I was supposed to go to Paris and Rome with my girlfriend. Paris, I couldn’t wriggle out of (She’d have killed me and then left me). But Rome, I cancelled and returned to India for Kahaani. That’s my kahaani,” says the young actor.
The 33-year-old Balan stands next to the leading actresses of the Bollywood industry at this point in time, thanks to the stupendous success of ‘The Dirty Picture’. Nevertheless, Chatterjee insisted that despite being a big star, Vidya is very down to earth and hassle free.
He said, “Vidya is a big star but absolutely hassle free. She takes her work extremely seriously. But when she is off camera, she is a bundle of fun. I found her attitude refreshing. It was definitely a change from some of the temperamental Bengali actresses I’ve worked with.”
Parambrata Chatterjee is currently working on his forthcoming directorial venture, in which he would probably cast a Bengali superstar, Prosenjeet.
On the other hand Vidya Balan, who not too long ago bagged a National Award, is participating in the upcoming films ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ and ‘Ghanchakkar’.
