The new iPad Dilemma: It loves me … it loves me not – Part 1

Apple, Inc. announced the latest version of their flagship tablet, the new iPad, on March 07, 2012. The numeric suffix was abandoned by the company to give the tablet a new identity. There might be two reasons for new brand strategy. The new iPad is a new device in a number of ways. It has now incorporated Apple’s signature resolution, Retina Display with 2048×1536 resolution that is higher than any tablet or laptop in the market. It might also have humbled some HDTVs currently available in the market.

However, the question that rises with release of this mind blowing device is whether to buy it or not. Trust me, even though it has some of the best features in the market, it still raises certain questions that should be answered.

There are surely three types of tablet users in the market: those who own the original iPad released in 2010, those who currently have iPad 2 released last year, and finally those who rely on Android devices with big screens. There however, is still a big unaddressed market that has the potency to purchase one but somehow have never to date.

I am going to go through every one of these market segments that have potential to buy the iPad. Oh! My bad, the new iPad.

The new tablet though has Retina Display, 4G and whatnot but still there are a number of things that would keep the iPad fanatics at bay. For starters, the new iPad is slightly heavier and a hair’s breadth fatter than the 2011 model. Therefore, those who are addicted to the lightness of device would be turned off. But do not, because it is negligible to human feel.
