Marvi Memon says joining hands with Imran Khan would have been a big mistake

Marvi Memon, the former MNA and a recent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) recruit, expressed pleasures that she averted a gross mistake by not joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In her view, the PTI had fast become a Pakistan Muslim League Quaid part two, pointing towards the joining of political stalwarts such as Javed Hashmi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi. She said she realized the reality; hence she expressed pleasures that she had not joined hands with Imran Khan.

Memon informed that she had taken this decision over a period of time rather than overnight. She asserted, “I got lucky that I realised in time, that this change was not what it claimed to be”.

The active-female politician continued that the expectations that she, as well as a number of people had with Imran Khan’s PTI, which they would bring a real change, were not fulfilled.

She confessed this, saying it was disappointing for everybody, including the party itself which was hoping to take her on board. She added, “When I saw that this had become a PML-Q part two, I could not join it”.

By joining hands with the Imran Khan, Marvi said, she would have continued the same mistake she made in joining the PML-Q, from which she resigned in 2011. She, however, insisted that her decision to join PML-N was not for power or money, but for development of women sector.

She joined the PML-N earlier this month, saying there was only one party resisting the government’s bad policies and that party was the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.  She observed, “The law and order situation is not good in the country. I regret that I was part of a party that supported a fascist party like the MQM.

Marvi said that at first she was struggling alone but now she was part of a party of lions, the PML-N.

Her joining with the PML-N was a big blow for the PTI, as she attended the PTI rally in Ghotki where former foreign minister and ex-Pakistan People’s Party leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi had announced that he was joining hands with Imran Khan.
