Wonders of World: Red Rock City of Petra in Jordan

Petra is considered the most charming site situated in south of the Jordan near Wadi Araba. It is the great rock cut city which is the finest example of ancient archeology. Petra city is surrounded by the fortress and controls the main routes which pass through Gaza to Bosra and Damascus, Aqaba to the red sea and across the desert to Persian Gulf.

Petra is half-built, half-carved rock city, and began settlements in 18^th century. It is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is hidden in almost impossible barriers of mountain to pass through. It has incomparable scenes which make it the most majestic and spell casting ancient site which is still standing.

The rose red city of Petra is rock carved. This site is admired for its refined architecture, charisma and culture. A kilometer long, gloom and cool canyon with long and narrow rising sides provide the viewer a sense of mystery.

The basins of Petra, posses round about eight hundred individual monument, including: buildings, baths, funerary halls, tombs, temples, colonnaded streets and arched gateways. Most of its buildings are carved from the kaleidoscopic sandstone by the technical and artistic genius people. Petra is very breathtaking and cast a spell on the person who visits Petra.
