Dodging a bullet at the Asia Cup finals, Pakistan managed to eke out a victory against Bangladesh, at the last delivery of the match.

It rally went down the wire and Bangladesh proved the world that it could no longer be seen as pushovers.

The glorious run of the home team in the Asia Cup, where they overcame two world champions Indian and Sri Lanka, underscoring the new-found self-belief the Bengali Tigers now seem to possess after years of being treated as minnows.

Although Pakistan defeated Bangladesh twice in the Asia Cup, there is no disgrace in loss if it comes after a hardly fought game.

Bangladesh, not short on talent, is the way up and with transformed dedication and training can now possibly defeat any squad in the world of cricket.

Legendary pair of Shaqib-al-Hasan and Tamim Iqbal is first-rate performers who can change results of a game.

To their credit, the Green-shirts did not panic when the situation looked awful.

Sarfraz Ahmed, the relatively inexperienced wicket-keeper exhibited an impressive a game, taking the team towards the end and helping it to save face and post a relatively diffident but defendable total.

Aizaz Cheema delivered an outstanding last over, clinching the results in our favour. Impulsive celebration telecasted live by most satellite channels.

The nerve-wracking win was a welcome relief from the overall depressing scenario. The Bengali Tigers got off to an impressive start when Pakistani bowlers took over the field.

After hand-to-mouth efforts, the Green-shirts won the match as well the Asia Cup, bringing joy to millions on the eve of Pakistan Day.

However, a key question needs to be answered here. Pakistani paces leave a lot to be wished while spinners, our strong point these days, failed to do the trick every single time in pressure situations.

Umer Gul remains in a class of his own but the supporting act is short on performance. Still, the Green-shirts under Misbah deserve hats off for the manner in which they have won the title.
