Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (2012): The complete review – Part 1

Samsung Electronics launched the new tablet in the 7-inch family, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, in the same week Apple, Inc. released the new iPad 2012 model. That may be one of the reasons why the 7-incher could not attract media attention.

However, given the time spent with the new device from the Koreans, I would say the new slate is a stunner in many respects, given the it comes with, holding a smaller footprint. The screen is intense and mesmerizingly attractive and it is certainly one of the thinnest in small tablets category.

However, the new Tab 7.7 does not come all Mr. Perfect, it has some flaws, shortcomings and things missing, but all in its appropriate time.

First of all, the dimensions: The new device should shock the world with its state-of-the-art size and depth, given that it contains the sharpest and dense screen any 7-inch or 8-inch display can handle.

When the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus was released last year, I opined that building a really thin 10.1-inch tablet was probably a less arduous task than matching that same thinness on a 7-incher. The Galaxy Tab 7.7, with its 0.7-inch larger screen, reinforces that opinion with a thinner and lighter design than Samsung’s previous 7-inch effort. Not that I went out on a limb at all by speculating that in the first place. The more surface area you have to work with, the easier it is to spread components around, facilitating a thinner design.
