Xbox 360’s Kinect falls short off the talls claims by Microsoft

It is widely believed that for an ultimate Xbox 360 experience, it is essential to purchase Kinect, the motion sensing input that replaces the traditional controller with the player’s body to perform various actions in games, or even on the dashboard for
that matter.

While it would be quite unfair to overlook the fun elements of Kinect completely considering the huge boost in interactivity that it offers, one simply cannot ignore its flaws and shortcomings.

At the time of Kinect’s release, the claims made by Microsoft stirred lots of hype, leaving the gaming community stunned with what the company was promising. Microsoft had left the world in awe with their release of Microsoft Windows and it seemed as if
they were on their way to write history once again.

Unfortunately, Microsoft seemed to have bit on more than they could chew during their promotion of the latest technology that was being introduced to their gaming console.

Expecting nothing short of a flawless experience, people rushed to get a Kinect for their machine. Despite the big claims by Microsoft, the motion detection device turned out to be a rather sketchy experience.

The limited amount of titles available for Kinect had very little to offer, save for Kinect Sports. However, one or two good games hardly justified the big bucks that were spent on purchasing the motion sensing input.

The detection of motion did not turn out to be as accurate as one would have liked. The slight delay in responsiveness of Kinect turned out to be rather frustrating, forcing a person to eventually grab his controller instead of becoming one himself in order
to have a quicker and better command of his character’s actions.

The limited amount of titles compatible with Kinect is a problem in itself, which directly affects the experience by making it rather dull.

Kinect also requires a large amount of space, something that the Asian houses are not blessed with. Though slight, but the negative impact of this shortcoming is definitely there.

Anyone who wants to enjoy a quality time playing games with his kids or wife may end up deriving more fun from Kinect than more hardcore gamers who are not ready for settle for anything less than perfect.
