Twinkle Khanna says she couldn’t handle the movie business

There was a time when Twinkle Khanna was one of the leading Bollywood actresses but she walked away from the industry immediately after her wedding in 2001 with the popular B-town star, Akshay Kumar and she has no regrets at all since she says she already had plans to quit.

Apart from being with Akshay, the 37-year-old is also the daughter of two of the most famous yesteryear’s stars, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, yet she never feels the tinsel town’s pull the same way her close ones did.

Khanna recently had a candid chat with DT of the ‘Times of India’, in which she told about the switch that changed her life.

“My fantasy in life is to just walk aimlessly and have no one ever see me and do whatever the hell I want. It was a great decision… It was in the last two years of my career that I decided to take this decision. I wanted to quit for at least four years, but my mum kept saying that ‘you are making a great living… So, I was already married, I was doing this on the side and I was still doing movies. But, I just couldn’t handle the movie business anymore. So, I told my husband – at that time we were doing a movie together – just get me out of this so that I can do whatever I want to do,” she insisted.

In the meantime, the actress also talked about her husband Akshay Kumar. She stressed that Akshay was the biggest support for her during her career.

She said, “He believed in me when even I didn’t know that I could come and reach this stage. And he believed in me like no one did.”

In the end Khanna stated that she is very happy with her life at this point in time. The actress insisted that she did enough to establish her identity in the industry and if she had spent more time there, she would have done that just for fun and not anything substantial.
