Rajasthan Royals batsman Brad Hodge is impressed with the way Rahul Dravid is motivating players in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Under Dravid’s superb captaincy, the Royals registered their second consecutive win on Sunday. Batting first, the home side posted a decent total of 164 runs on the board, thanks to Hodge’s brilliant 44 runs. In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders collapsed on
142 runs.

Hodge, who was declared Player of the Match, praised Dravid for extracting the best out of his teammates. “He [Dravid] has been very good and motivating his players and also the dressing room atmosphere is very cordial,” said Hodge.

On Rajasthan Royal’s game plan against the Knight Riders, he stated, “We had planned to cope with their strong batting line up by introducing spin and medium pace and that helped us to a comfortable victory. It wasn’t that the visitors could not adjust to
the pace of the wicket but we bowled and batted well according to the nature of the wicket.”

Dravid’s step to promote Goswami up in the batting was a huge surprise for everyone. When Hodge was asked about this step, he shared that the idea to have left-right combination could have promoted Dravid to do so.

He added, “I suppose it was the left and right hand combination which must have prompted Dravid to send him up the order but to be fair Goswami has been batting well in the nets.”

Despite the fact that the Royals are producing excellent results at the moment, many experts are clueless why Shaun Tait is sitting out.

Responding to the question that why Tait was not a part of the playing XI in last two matches, Hodge described, “The format of this tournament is like this that you can play only four overseas players so sometimes few of have to sit out.”

Rajasthan Royal will meet Mumbai Indians next. Harbhajan Singh’s side is one of the favourite sides in the tournament, but Hodge is confident of his side’s chances.

Since Tait has a wonderful track record against Mumbai outfit, Hodge hinted that he might be brought into the side for next game.
