Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel calls Narain Karthikeyan a cucumber

Sebastian Vettel blamed Narain Karthikeyan for the collision that resulted in a 11th place finish for the title defender.

The Malaysian Grand Prix was a shocker for fans teams and drivers alike, Fernando Alonso took the win, Sergio Perez ended runners up and Lewis Hamilton left bemused at 3rd. The weather did not help the drivers either as the race was delayed due to weather and the red flag was also waved and stayed for about one hour.

Vettel was at fourth place when he was about to lap Karthikeyan as he was about to overtake the HRT he was tagged by his car and had puncture due to which he had to take a pit stop and moved down the order.

Vettel was visibly frustrated after the race, and while talking to a German television said, “In real life, there are a few cucumbers on the road”.

It showed how disappointed he was at the result, and it is justified as well as the German is losing grips of his champion title as this was his worst finish since 2010.

“We had lost all radio contact with Sebastian, which meant we could only speak with him via the pit board,” Horner said. “After his stop he came up to the HRT who hit him and caused a puncture. The incident caused damage to the rear brake duct, which went into thermal runaway, so we wanted to stop the car before the end from a safety point of view. Seb didn’t hear us on the radio and continued. Thankfully his car got to the end without failing, but the incident cost Sebastian at least a fourth place finish today.”

Red Bull now have to rethink their strategy as the competition is getting tougher. McLaren, Ferrari, and even Sauber now look really good and it seems that the season will keep on springing new surprises as the season progresses.

There still is no clear winner and the margin between teams is very tight, that is a positive all the teams will be looking into. It will be interesting to see how the teams fare in the Chinese Grand Prix two weeks from now.
