Karin Prinsloo and Chad Le Clos outshine in swimming events – South African LC Nationals

Karin Prinsloo and Chad le Clos dominated the semi-finals of Women’s 100m backstroke and Men’s 200m freestyle on second day of the 2012 South African Long Course Nationals in Durban.

The 22-year-old Prinsloo showed no leniency to her challengers and emerged on the finishing end for first position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 01.15 seconds. Her scintillating struggle remained nearly two seconds ahead of Ashley-Cooper, who ended
second by clocking a time of 1 minute and 03.22 seconds.

Lehesta Kemp and Amy N Peens remained prominent for third and fourth fastest spot of the race as they clocked a time of 1:03.44 and 1:04.53 minutes, respectively.

Subsequently, the crowd witnessed a laudable effort of Le Clos in the playoff of the 200m event. Le Clos remained in a lead of almost full body length over his strongest competitor, Darian Townsend as he touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 47.20
seconds.

Townsend remained nearly one second slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 48.26 seconds.

Third spot of the event was secured by Sebastien Rousseau, who remained marginally behind his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 48.58 seconds.

Next was the Women’s 100m butterfly final, where Vanessa Mohr stunned the aquatic crowd by winning gold medal of the event with an effort of 59.72 seconds.

She was followed by Mandy T Loots, who earned silver medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 59.81 seconds.

Subsequently, Marne Erasmus snared third position of the discipline as she completed her swim with an effort of 1 minute and 00.84 seconds.

The arena enjoyed mind-blowing swims of all contestants in their exclusive events while the finalists will compete with each other in their respective playoffs to prove their mettle for the title of the event.

Furthermore, the winners were invited on the victory stand for medals and accolades after the session while the championship will conclude on April 22 after the completion of all listed events.
