HTC One S: Full Review of the midrange smartphone from the Taiwanese company – Part 1

HTC released its midrange Android-powered smartphone, HTC One S earlier in April. Although the phone is being marketed as a mid-ranged smaller screen smartphone, but there is nothing to it that suggests so. The Taiwanese company has done a marvellous job in bring one of the best Android phones under a $200 price tag.

With 4.3-inch AMOLED screen, the phone brings a lot to the table with a humble price of $199 under a two-year contract with T-Mobile in the US. However, what is more attractive in the new handset is its shape and the operating system it comes with.

The following post will go through all of them one by one.

Design

After a long period of one year, HTC has finally rolled out a smartphone that comes with a very innovative and very attractive shape, still managing it to be one of the slimmest in the lot. The phone measures 2.6 inches in width, 0.3 inches in depth and 4.7 inches in height, whereas it weighs 4.2 ounces.

Being only 0.3 inches in breadth, the phone is slimmer than iPhone 4 and 4S in addition to Samsung Galaxy Nexus. However, Motorola Droid Razr is still thinner than the One S at 0.28 inches. The weight is another plus in One S couple with an exquisite built quality with matte metallic finish. The handset feels comfortable in the hand.

The screen is 4.3-inch qHD (960 by 540) Super AMOLED with flashier colours and deeper blacks. Watching HD videos is a memorable experience on One S. Every colour has its own definition and presence in the lot and its very attractive at the same time. The whole screen is covered and well protected by Gorilla Glass, which is scratch and stain less.
