Prime Minister Gilani throws down the gauntlet back at the judges and opposition

Amidst the walkout staged by members of PML-N from the National Assembly protesting Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’ speech, the defiant premier said that no one but the Speaker of the House can disqualify him and send him home.

While speaking in the national assembly, the prime minister hinted at the dissent shown by PML-N, saying that he does not have an ego problem like them.

In quite a combative mood, he observed, “If Nawaz Sharif thinks that he can dissolve my government then I challenge him to bring a vote of no confidence against me.”

Asking the opposition and PML-N to respect the mandate of the people if they believe in democracy, he said he could only be removed by the Parliament and would accept the decision of the house.

He was looking quite confident during his speech in the absence of Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who on Saturday announced that he would not let the prime minister to enter the house.

Gilani observed, “I am the constitutionally elected prime minister of 180 million people. How can I just be removed like that?  I’m a member of this august House. How can you say you don’t consider me a member of the House”?

He said he was congratulated for his conviction more times than he was congratulated for being elected prime minister. “The ultimate authority is the Parliament because every institution derives its powers from Parliament”, he added.

He said he was with the Parliament, asking the opposition to decide what side they are on. He continued that they respected the opposition, but no one should consider our politics of reconciliation as a sign of weakness.

In his view, the Speaker of the House only can decide if he can no longer hold the office of the premiership.

Without naming Sharif Brothers, he said, “One brother doesn’t regard me as a prime minister; the other doesn’t regard President Zardari as president. Who are they to say this”?

Gilani said he was not convicted over corruption charges but he was convicted for protecting the constitution. Everyone was questioning why the prime minister was smiling; he said he was smiling because they have an independent judiciary.

Presidents in countries across the world enjoy immunity and why is Pakistan’s president exempted?

Because in other Democratic countries President , MNA and MPA are not given NRO pass.
In other civilized and Democratic countries President, Prime Minister and opposition leader resign them self if they have been charged with corruption or contempt of court
Lekin tum log buhat he begarat aur besharam log ho Democracy k naam per ghunda gardi kerte ho.
woh waqt dor nahe Jab Awam tumhe gharoon se nikal ker itna mare ge k tumhare anay wali naslon mein be koi corruption ka nahe soche ga
