Archos 101 G9 Turbo is an upgrade on paper to its predecessor from last year but its actual performance is still under whelming. The tablet weighs more than any of its peers in the market, thanks to the hard drive and the shape a lot of flaws in it.

Last year when the first Archos 101 G9 arrived in the market, it had very common features and a disappointing camera. The design failed to make a fashion statement and the grip faded with the metallic finish to an already heavy structure. Unfortunately, the new model is no exception to last year’s version.

On paper, the new Archos 101 G9 has incorporated an additional moniker, Turbo, along with a bigger processor and a bigger storage device, in fact the biggest in the market with 250 GB, but its performance still lags behind and the design seems to have stuck forever.

The primary camera takes 1080p video but its quality is lower than a standard video format and is out of sync. The colours are washed out but the screen has a wider viewing angle.

Moreover, the hefty structure is available for $390 which is not a big amount but considering the looks and software features, it is still high for the trouble it brings at the hands of the users.

Design

The gigantic tablet measures 10.86 inches wide, 6.59 inches tall and 0.61 inches thick. Because of the 250 GB hard drive inside, this model is heavier than its flash series predecessors, and it weighs a hefty 1.73 pounds. This much weight might not be a problem in carrying it around but holding it for longer period of time while playing games or reading books might use some muscular body. In addition, the moving hard drive’s sound and treble might also be a problem to the users, just a heads up.
