One of the major selling points of the new One X is the pre-loaded Ice Cream Sandwich, Google’s latest iteration its mobile operating system Android. On the top of Android 4.0.3 is HTC’s own interface module HTC Sense 4.0.

HTC claims that the new version of Sense milks the best out of ICS, yet it does not interfere with the aesthetics of the operating system. Both Sense 4.0 and ICS run their features separately and smoothly.

Being an Android phone, One X comes equipped with Google’s latest apps Gmail, Google+, and Navigation, along with the Play Store, which itself is a gateway to Android’s catalogue of 500,000 applications. Play also provides digital books, movies, games, and music to purchase.

The latest Sense version, according to HTC, has been toned down ousting the extras like animated weather widget and RAM-hungry carousel of home screens. In their stead is very appropriately designed weather reporter on sliding home screens. With a quick swipe to the left the slider moves to the last home screen on the right and vice versa on inverse action.

HTC Sense’s weather clock on the main screen comes with a number of features. Tapping on the digital clock readout animates the app to display a graphic-intensive view of time-zone segregated globe. The app even provides information on the current weather conditions in your region.

Moreover, the interface also offers the Pure Content Reader feature to the web browser that wipes off any images and Flash content from the web page for faster and smoother read.

At the bottom of the home screen are quick launch tiles to phone, messaging, menu, web browser and camera. All these tiles are also synchronized to the lock screen where a virtual unlock ring resides at the bottom. Dragging the ring up unlocks the phone, whereas dragging any of the quick launch tile immediately launches the respective application. For instance, dropping the camera’s tile into the circle launches the camera app in a flash.
