Lyari Operation: IG Sindh hopeful to achieve target by Friday
Karachi: As the Layari operation entered into 7th day today, Inspector General Police Sindh Mushtaq Shah said that the police force was hopeful of achieving its target by tomorrow (Friday).
While talking to the journalists today, the IG said that the area where the operation is being carried out is the headquarter of the terrorists and the police was striving to clear out the area of criminals.
He said, “The police will continue to be after the criminals until they are arrested”. Today was the seventh day of the Layari operation and the police has not succeeded in arresting any of the criminals as yet.
According to the sources, every time police try to enter different areas, the miscreants fire rockets and throw hand grenades forcing the police to retreat back to their earlier positions.
Yesterday, rangers and additional police forces was called in to aid the police personnel already engaged in the operation. Moreover, Station House Officers from district East along with over 100 sharp shooters and four armoured
personnel carriers have been called in for the final round of the police operation.
