Aamir Khan finally agrees to attend an award function

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, also known as Mr. Perfectionist, has not attended any award function for the past seventeen years but he has finally decided to attend the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards, which will take place today at Hotel Tupil Star in Juhu.

These are not the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards which are conducted by the Government of India. Khan will simply be unveiling a wax statue of Dadasaheb Phalke, who directed India’s first full-length feature, ‘Raja Harishchandra’ in 1913.

Aamir Khan, who is one of the leading B-town actors, has always stayed away from the awards functions but this time he has made up his mind because this time everyone will be celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema.

Ashok Shekhar, son of veteran actor Chandrashekhar, who is one of the organizers of the event, confirmed the news to the media.

“He is keen on attending and has stated that he will be there only for half an hour,” said Ashok.

“We had requested him last year too, but he declined it. He made it clear to us that he is coming to the event to unveil the statue since we’re celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema,” explained Ashok.

There are only a few Indian personalities who have made it to the Madame Tussauds museum in London thus far. Aamir was also offered but the actor refused to have a wax statue since he believes he doesn’t need one.

“It’s not important to me. People will see my films if they want to. Also, I cannot deal with so many things, I have bandwidth only for that much,” he said.

The main reason why he doesn’t go to the award functions in India is because he thinks they lack credibility and are aimed at keeping everyone happy.

Well, all said and done, Aamir Khan is certainly one of a kind. He has marked his presence in the Hollywood Academy awards but after a long time he will be seen in an award function in Indian.
