Timothy Duggan to try his podium chances at the US Pro Championships in Greenville

Timothy Duggan and Ted King played a vital role during the fifth stage of the Amgen Tour of California which helped Peter Sagan with five victories at the event.

Duggan started his professional pursuit with Team TIAA-CREF in 2005 and stayed with the team by the end of 2010.

He accepted an offer from Team Liquigas-Cannondale in 2011 and is continuing his second consecutive season with the side.

The cyclist helped the team with his numerous performances throughout and is expected to be seen in a different role for the coming races of the season.

The 29-year-old has served the team as a domestique all through his career but the team has now announced that Timothy will be given his own podium opportunity at the US Pro Championships in Greenville.

While commenting on his new role at the US Championships, he told Cyclingnews, “I’m certainly shooting for that and confident about it”.

“Ted and I did a good result last year with him on the podium and just the two of us, hopefully we can replicate that this year”.

“It’s kind of a chaotic race, and Ted and I are only a two-man team, and we’re fighting teams that might have 10 or 12 guys”.

“You just do your best. I hope it’s a hard, hot race. It’s a race that suits me with a hill, but not a finishing hill”.

“We’ll just try to play our cards right and see what happens”.

Timmy joined with Ted King to help Sagan with a record winning five stage victories at the recent Amgen Tour of California 2012.

The Slovakian bagged the first, the second, the third, the fourth and the eighth stages of the American race and also dominated at the point’s classifications of the contest.

Duggan have worked for others for many years and will finally have an opportunity to ride for his own glory.

However, the 29-year-old noted that he sees himself as a perfect domestique and does not possess any exceptional sprinting or climbing skills.

Duggan is undoubtedly a terrific talent and have the potential to ride for his own self and only needs to put more effort towards the end of the races.
