James Cameron: Focus solely on ‘Avatar’ series
The director has claimed that he is completely focussing on one project at the time being which is the sequel to much acclaimed, Avatar. He insisted that he has only directed two films in the last 16 years as he wants to give his all to a project and wants it to be perfect in every sense.
Cameron added that he has disbanded the development department from his production house as he solely wants to focus on one film. He insisted that he has no plans to work on any other project as he is excited about the Avatar series.
“I've divided my time over the last 16 years over deep ocean exploration and filmmaking. Last year I basically completely disbanded my production company's development arm. So I'm not interested in developing anything,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The producer and director revealed that he wishes to make Avatar 3 and Avatar 4 as well so he has no time to produce movies for other directors.
“I'm in the Avatar business. Period. That's it. I'm making Avatar, Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I'm not going to produce other people's movies for them. I'm not interested in taking scripts,” he continued.
On the other hand, the director of ‘Titanic’ added that he can deliver anything he wants in the Avatar franchise and is excited ahead of the shoot of the film.
“And that all sounds I suppose a little bit restricted, but the point is I think within the Avatar landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it,” he concluded.
There have been reports that James Cameron will be working on the sequel of Avatar in China.
