After performing autopsies on infants found that they had died from natural causes. Babies do not have food in their stomachs, lungs also showed signs of pneumonia and their bodies were malnourished. The researchers concluded that the death of the infants
had been intentional.

The officers arrested the couple on January 15, 1948. During questioning it was discovered that Miyuki was not drinking milk, which irritated the infants and their constant crying died from starvation or suffocation.

At trial Miyuki defended his actions by saying that the culprits were the irresponsible parents. Surprisingly, the public agreed with the statement of the murderous midwife, but was heavily criticized by the novelist Miyamoto Yuriko, who maintained that
such acts are a type of discrimination.

After Miyuki and his accomplices were executed, police continued to investigate and soon discovered 40 bodies scattered in the district of Shinjuku. They also found 30 more bodies in a temple, the state of decomposition and the amount of debris that had
hampered the determination of total victims. To this day unknown number killed by infanticidal midwife. The authorities classified their actions as crimes of omission, law justifying the actions of Miyuki.
