Taslima Nasreen salutes Aamir Khan and wants Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan to talk about rape, sexual abuse

Aamir Khan’s TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is garnering a lot of appericiation from the audiences and Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen has requested that other Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan should also take the initiative to talk about rape and sexual abuse of women.

Nasreen requested Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan via her Twitter account.

“Dear Salman Khan, please talk about rape, domestic violence and dowry murder on TV tomorrow. Ppl should know about these problems,” Taslima Nasreen wrote on her Twitter page.

“Dear Shahrukh Khan, pl talk about sexual abuse & sexual slavery on TV. Ppl shd know about these problems. We talk, but we’re not film stars,” she added.

Aamir Khan, who has a huge fan base in Indian, Pakistan and Bangladesh, has always entertained the audiences on the big screen but he has made an appearance on small screen for the first time ever only to highlight the social issues in the society and Nasreen thinks it is a very courageous effort from the actor.

‘Satyamev Jayate’ is broadcasted every Sunday at 11 am and in the first episode of the show Aamir created awareness among the people about female foeticide and like many other Nasreen has highly appreciated his move.

“From now on film stars should talk about social problems on TV. Everybody will listen to them. Ppl don’t listen to human rights activists. Feminists have been talking about female foeticide and it’s dangerous effects for decades. Ppl have learned about it today from star plus,” she wrote.

“I salute Aamir Khan for being so courageous and for raising people’s consciousness. #gendercide,” Taslima Nasreen wrote.

Well, all said and done, the motor-mouth Indian politician, Bal Thackeray, Shiv Sena Chief, surprisingly has also commended Aamir’s work.

Thackeray said, “This show ( Satyamev Jayate) must not be tied up in parochial chains or barred from the public. This is our view.”
