Samsung Galaxy S III: Should we welcome the 2012 model or make peace with it? – Part 2

These are some of the specifications that one can say are upgrades, and undoubtedly they are welcomed. But will anyone of them bring shakes in the market? I will leave that for you to answer.

What is normal and what is missing?

First of all, those who were waiting for a camera in double-figure mega pixels should ward those notions away. The new S III comes with an 8-mega pixel snapper that can shoot 1080p full HD video. Now, where did I here of that? Oh, last year’s Galaxy S II.

The display is bigger but the same brighter. Nokia brought Lumia 900 with Super-AMOLED display with ClearBlack that offers deeper black colours in hue. S III has increased the pixel density to 1280×720, which is 720p HD display. Though it is an upgrade but still it does not match 4S’ set 332 ppi benchmark.

S III is thicker and heftier than its sibling from last year with 0.34-inch depth and 4.69-ounce weight. Although that is acceptable but given the bigger size of the handset, at least the depth could be shrunk.

Those who were hoping for a ceramic built in the new model, again shrug those thoughts as it comes in plastic. Though it is not cheap, it gives a premium feel but it is still plastic. We will see if the plastic body brings any drastic changes in WiFi and 4G LTE speeds, after all that is why the Korean company chose this material.

More thoughts on the device when it comes before me for rigorous tests, but if you have any thoughts to share, post them in the comments below.
