Dana Vollmer and Matthew Targett impress in swimming events – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim

Dana Vollmer and Matthew Targett impressed their supporters by winning gold medals of 50m butterfly in Women and Men’s category on final day of the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim.

The 24-year-old Vollmer spoiled the party of her challengers in the shortest butterfly discipline by proving her eligibility for gold medal.

With her astounding efforts, she remained considerably ahead of her challengers throughout the event and tapped the finishing end for gold medal by posting a wonderful time of 25.80 seconds.

The champion was followed by Claire Donahue, who stayed 0.89 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 26.69 seconds.

The second position holder was chased by Andrea Georoff, who stayed 0.18 seconds slower and snared bronze medal of the event by touching the wall with an effort of 26.87 seconds.

On the other hand, Targett served notice of his talent by occupying gold medal of the equivalent event in Men’s category. With his impeccable efforts, Targett outsmarted his challengers over the finishing end for gold medal as he clocked a time of 23.11
seconds.

With his stupendous struggle, he remained 0.78 seconds faster from Eugene Godsoe of SwimMAC Carolina, who sprinted his way towards the finishing end for silver medal by hitting the wall with the timing of 23.89 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by his teammate, Cullen Jones, who remained just 0.29 seconds slower and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by submitting a time of 24.18 seconds.

Later, Kathleen Ledecky won gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle by producing a time of 8 minutes and 25.85 seconds.

Her effort remained nearly five seconds faster from Gillian Ryan of North Baltimore, who stayed eleven seconds slower from overwhelming the gold medallist and touched the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 36.56 seconds.

The silver medallist was chased by Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish Swim-NE, who was nearly full body length behind and emerged on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing a time of 8 minutes and 37.40 seconds.

Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events.
