Prime Minister Gilani shows commitment for an enlightened Pakistan

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) is committed for an enlightened country with affordable education facilities for all segments of society.

While addressing the 3rd convocation of Virtual University, the defiant premier said the government was endeavoring to spread information and communication technology services across the country with special focus on backward areas.

Criticizing the policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he said laptops could not provide the youth with employment. Taking credit for his government, he said the incumbent allocated Rs37 billion for broadband services.

The prime minister vowed to build Information Technology (IT) centers in the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan that would provide jobs to thousands of youngsters. He informed that the present government had established more than one thousand education and community broadband centers in the remotest areas of the country.

Gilani stressed the need for the promotion of scientific and technical education to meet the modern-day requirements, saying IT centers will be opened in each union council of the country.

In order to ensure quality education in line with the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), he vowed to increase the share of GDP for education sector in the next fiscal budget. He continued that the PPP-led government was taking numerous steps to improve the human resource development in the country.

Urged the need to pay more attention for the promotion of research and technology in the education sector, the premier directed the concerned ministry to speed up its process for acquiring Three-G license for Pakistan.

In his view, a lot of new employment opportunities will be created in the IT sector after acquiring this license. He also vowed to establish I T campuses in the FATA‚ Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Finance Ministry has been directed to create on hundred thousand new jobs for youngsters during this year, the premier added.

PM Gilani informed some elements are attempting to remove him from his office undemocratically what he would not allow to do so. He clarified that he could only be sent home through constitutional way.

The PPP has come into power through the power of people vote‚ rather than any backdoor channel, he added saying he would remain Prime Minister till public supports us.
